§ Mr. ALDENasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether complaints have been received by the National Insurance Commissioners relating to the way in which benefit has been administered by the Warrington agent of the British Legal Branch of the National Amalgamated Approved Society, referring specifically to the restriction of approved society office transactions to a single hour each week, the repeated refusal to accept stamps in payment of arrears and the consequent deferring of benefit, and discourteous treatment of insured persons and those acting on their behalf, and a refusal to discuss questions in dispute; whether he is aware that the case of a tuberculous patient still remains unsettled after four months, despite repeated appeals; and what action the Insurance Commissioners intend to take?
§ Mr. MONTAGUThe Commissioners are now making special inquiry into the complaints referred to by my hon. Friend, which had not previously been brought to their notice, and will inform him of the result.
