§ Mr. BOWERMANasked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that most of the omnibuses owned by the National Steam Car Company, Limited, have been withdrawn from public service, to the inconvenience of the public; whether the company gave the usual ten days' notice to the Commissioner of Police to withdraw their vehicles from hire, as provided by the London Hackney Carriage (No. 2) Act, 1853, 16 and 17 Vic, c. 127; and, if not, what action does he propose to take in the matter?
§ Mr. McKENNAI am aware that, owing to a trade dispute, certain omnibuses have been withdrawn. An intimation that this course might in certain circumstances prove necessary was previously given to the Commissioner of Police by the proprietors. The Act referred to by my hon. Friend provides that a magistrate before whom complaint is made shall decide whether the withdrawal was without just cause, and the Courts are open to any person aggrieved.
