HC Deb 04 March 1915 vol 70 c992W
Mr. RONALD McNEILL

asked the Postmaster-General if it is his intention, when the telephone line shall have been completed between Creetown and Gatehouse, in Kirkcudbrightshire, to remove the existing telegraph office at Carsluith without replacing it by a telephone call office; whether he is aware that if this is done the whole district between Creetown and Gatehouse, covering a distance of twelve miles, will be left without telegraphic or telephonic communication; and whether, in view of the inconvenience that would be so caused to the inhabitants, he will reconsider the intended abolition of the telegraph office at Carsluith or, in the alternative, enable residents in the district to obtain telephonic connection with the Creetown or Gatehouse exchange at a reduction from the present charge in agreements for exchange lines?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I am having inquiry made, and I will let the hon. Member know the result as soon as possible.
