§ Mr. TOUCHEasked the Postmaster-General if he has received a communication from the representatives of the "Illustrated London News," the "Graphic," the "Sphere," the "Sketch," the "Tatler," the "Bystander," the "Field," the "Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News," the "Gentlewoman," the "Queen," the "Ladies' Pictorial," "Country Life," and the "Ladies' Field," requesting him to reconsider his decision concerning the postal rates to Canada and to restore to high-class British weekly newspapers and magazines the rates at which they have been able to supply their subscribers for the past seven years, during which period the sale and circulation of British publications in the overseas Dominions has increased enormously; is he aware that the revised scale of rates as from 1st January, although not prejudicial to daily newspapers, will necessitate an increase in the subscription rates for British weekly papers and magazines and place them at a disadvantage as compared with Foreign publications; and will he endeavour to 992W arrange a readjustment of the recent scale so as to obviate this effect?
