HC Deb 04 March 1915 vol 70 c985W
Mr. BOYTON

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether he is aware that in a certain Mediterranean station the officers of the guard have had their quarters denuded of furniture, which had been handed over to German prisoners in order to make them more comfortable; and, if so, will he explain why this course was adopted?

Mr. TENNANT

I have no knowledge of the alleged preference given to German prisoners. The provision of accommodation is a matter of local arrangement, in reference to which it is necessary, as the hon. Member will no doubt realise, to allow discretion to the responsible authorities on the spot.
