HC Deb 04 February 1915 vol 69 c160W
Sir GEORGE POLLARD

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the Anglo-American Oil Company, proprietors of Pratt's motor spirit, have fixed a minimum retail price per gallon for their spirit, and are boycotting retail dealers who sell at a lower price; and, if so, if he intends taking any action?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I understand that an arrangement was made in August last between this company and certain other manufacturers of motor spirit, and the retail dealers represented by the Motor Trade Association for the fixing of prices. On the information at present in my possession I doubt the necessity for any action on my part, but if my hon. Friend has any detailed information which he desires to lay before me to show that the agreement produces an unreasonable level of prices. I shall be prepared to consider it.
