HC Deb 27 April 1915 vol 71 c597W
Mr. KING

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department to state how many ecclesiastical offices in the Church in Wales were vacant otherwise than, on the nomination or appointment of the holders thereto to other ecclesiastical offices in the Church in Wales, at the time denoted in the Welsh Church (Postponement) Bill as immediately before the 18th day of September, 1914; how many such offices were vacated in a similar manner between 18th September, 1914, and 31st March, 1915; and whether he will ascertain and communicate to the House the average number of ecclesiastical offices in the Church in Wales becoming vacant annually in like manner during the past seven years?

Mr. McKENNA

I will endeavour to have a calculation made showing the effects of Clause 2 of the Postponement Bill in so far as the six months which have already elapsed since the passing of the Act are concerned, and I will communicate the result to the House as soon as I am in a position to do so.
