HC Deb 26 November 1914 vol 68 c1337W
Colonel YATE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether officers of the Indian Army at Home on leave, who were recalled to duty on the outbreak of War, and were directed to embark on Government transports and did duty on those transports during the voyage, are to draw their Indian rate of pay from the day they embarked at Southampton?

Mr. C. ROBERTS

The officers recalled to duty on the outbreak of War were not entitled under Regulations to draw their Indian pay until they rejoined their duty in India. The Secretary of State saw no reason to depart from the Regulations on this occasion, except in the case of officers diverted to Egypt, who were allowed to draw their Indian pay from the date of disembarkation.
