HC Deb 24 March 1914 vol 60 cc217-8W
Mr. CHIOZZA MONEY

asked the Prime Minister if his attention has been directed to the extension of trusts, combinations, monopolies, awl price agreements in restraint of trade in connection with a number of British industries; and if, in view of the far-reaching character of the issues involved and the injury done to national production by monopoly prices, he can see his way to set up a Select Committee of this House or a Royal Commission to inquire into and report upon the subject?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am aware of the importance of the matter to which my hon. Friend draws attention, but I am not certain that the time has arrived when a formal inquiry, such as is suggested, would be likely to produce a valuable result.
