§ Mr. ASTORasked the President of the Board of Education whether he will state if any, and, if so, how many, school medical officers have stated in their recent reports that work out of school hours has injuriously affected the physique and general condition of children whom they have inspected?
Mr. PEASEOf the 200 Reports of school medical officers for the year ending 31st December last, which the Board have so far received, and had an opportunity of scrutinising, twelve contain a reference to the injurious effect of work out of school hours on the physique and general condition of children. The hon. Member will find further reference to the subject in the last two Annual Reports of the Board's chief medical officer.
