HC Deb 24 February 1914 vol 58 cc1598-9W
Mr. JOHN EDWARD GORDON

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he can state the actual cost of all investments made under the National Insurance Act up to the 31st December, 1913, or any later day, and their present value or their valuation as at 31st December, 1913?

Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN

The net amount paid to the National Debt Commissioners for investment up to 31st December last was £15,263,000. A Return showing the securities in which these moneys were invested as on that date will, in pursuance of Section 54 (6) of the National Insurance Act, 1911, be laid before Parliament shortly. This amount does not, of course, include the sums issued for investment by societies, as to the manner of investment of which I have at present no information.
