§ Mr. RAMSAY MACDONALDasked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to the comment in the Annual Report of the Local Government Board (Ireland) for 1913 upon the inquiry recently held into the administration of the distress committee of the city of Dublin, where, it 1419W is stated, that the inquiry resulted in a vindication of the action of the distress committee; whether a shorthand report was taken of the evidence given at the inquiry; and, if so, whether it is intended to publish it?
§ Mr. BIRRELLMy attention has been called to the statement referred to. Shorthand notes were taken of the proceedings at the inquiry, and the transcript of evidence is very voluminous, the publication of which would involve considerable expense out of all proportion to its utility. It is open to any interested party to inspect and make extracts from the minutes of evidence at the office of the Local Government Board.
