§ Mr. J. A. PEASEAs regards the first part of the question, I can only refer the hon. Member to the information contained in the Report of the Departmental Committee on the Pupil Teacher System, dated 12th January, 1898 [C. 8761]. As regards the second part, the Board do not determine the rate of the maintenance allowance which local education authorities may give to bursars, and I am unable to say what the average rate is likely to be.
