§ Mr. MacVEAGHasked the Secretary for the Colonies whether he has yet received a Report from the High Commissioner of the Malay States with regard to the petition from the Regent of Kedah; if so, whether he can state its contents; whether the High Commissioner had received the authority of the Colonial Office before he took the steps complained of; and whether, as the High Commissioner is the defendant in the complaint, he will see that the decision is not left solely in the High Commissioner's hands?
Mr. HARCOURTThere has not yet been time for the High Commissioner to report on the petition. The answer to the third part of the question is in the affirmative. The decision will, of course, rest with the Secretary of State.
