§ Mr. KEIR HARDIEasked the Under-Secretary of State for India what is the constitution of the Ahmedabad Municipal Commission and the number of its members; how many of those members are nominated by the British authorities; are any of its members elected by the public; and, if so, how many?
§ Mr. MONTAGUBy order made by the Bombay Government under Section 179 of the Bombay District Municipalities Act the Municipality of Ahmedabad was superseded for three years for incompetence and default. As this period has been found insufficient for the purpose of putting municipal affairs in order the supersession has by a further order been extended to the 31st March, 1914. The powers and duties of the municipality in the meanwhile are exercised and performed by a committee of twenty-one persons appointed by the Commissioner under Clause (2) of the above-mentioned Section.
