HC Deb 11 February 1913 vol 48 cc738-9W
Mr. WILLIAM THORNE

asked the President of the Local Government Board if his attention has been called to the Burton-on-Trent guardians advertising for women assistant nurses and not receiving a single application; and if he can state what was the salary offered for the appointment?

Mr. BURNS

My attention has been called to this matter. I am informed that the salary offered was £30 per annum, rising by annual increments of £2 10s. to £35, together with rations, residence, uniform, etc.
