HC Deb 15 August 1913 vol 56 c2828W
Mr. KEIR HARDIE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has any information anent the housing which is being provided for the workmen who are, or are about to be, employed in the construction of the Taff Vechan reservoir; and whether, in view of the scarcity of house accommodation in the neighbourhood, he will cause special observation to be made to prevent overcrowding whilst the works are in progress?

Mr. BURNS

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. I have just received a report from one of my inspectors, who visited the works referred to ten days ago. He states that there is ample accommodation for all the men who are at present employed, or likely to be employed in the immediate future. I will continue to have this matter kept under observation as long as the works are in progress.
