HC Deb 09 April 1913 vol 51 c1201W
Mr. CHIOZZA MONEY

asked the President of the Local Government Board if he has observed that the new Regulations designed to suppress the noisiness of motor cycles have been entirely without effect; and what steps he proposes to take to deal effectively with the great public nuisance caused by these machines, which habitually infringe the Regulations both as to noise and speed?

Mr. BURNS

I am afraid I cannot agree with my hon. Friend that the Order to which he refers has been without effect. As a matter of fact, I observe that an increasing number of motor cycles are being fitted with silencers. As regards the last part of the question, the enforcement of[...]Regulations, as regards both noise and [...] rests with the police authorities.
