HC Deb 03 April 1913 vol 51 cc572-3W
Mr. CASSEL

asked what is the total amount of the expenditure of approved societies and insurance committees for benefits and administration on which the Grants in aid of benefits and costs of administration for the year 1913–14 are based?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The amounts estimated to be expended by approved societies and insurance committees in benefits and cost of administration respectively during the year 1913–14 are, for benefits £12,010,300, for cost of administration £2,529,600. The latter sum represents the aggregate of the maximum amounts allowed to be carried by societies to their administration account. Any sums saved within these maximum amounts will ultimately be available after valuation for additional benefits. The figures do not include the special Grants of £1,877,000 towards the cost of medical attendance and treatment and towards the expense of administration in connection therewith.
