HC Deb 22 October 1912 vol 42 c1961W
Mr. LANE-FOX

asked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the parish of Wistow, near Selby, having an acreage of 4,362 and a population of 650, is without either a money order or a telegraph office; whether he is aware that the agricultural progress of the district is handicapped by this fact; and can he promise any redress of this grievance?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

From the returns which have been furnished to me it is estimated that the number of money orders likely to be issued at Wistow Post Office is only three a month, while not one telegram a day would be handed in if a telegraph office were opened there. There is a money order and telegraph office two miles distant, and, in the circumstances, I do not think any additional facilities are warranted.
