HC Deb 21 October 1912 vol 42 cc1755-6W
Mr. FIELD

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he has received complaints respecting the undue delay of inspection of pigs landed at Liverpool from Ireland; and whether he will make inquiry and have humane regulations put into force to enable feeding and movement of pigs within a reasonable time?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I have received one complaint on this subject. Careful inquiry has been made respecting it, and I am satisfied that there has been no delay in the inspection of pigs landed at Liverpool from Ireland, or any inhumanity on the part of the officers concerned. It rests with the owners of the animals to provide that the animals landed shall be properly fed.
