HC Deb 16 October 1912 vol 42 cc1249-50W
Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the President of the Local Government Board if he is aware that three fatal accidents have recently occurred at the crossing outside the tube station at Golder's Green caused by motor cars, and that, in addition, several minor accidents have happened from the same cause; if he is aware that the local council has made several applications to the Middlesex County Council to impose a speed limit for this exceptionally dangerous place; that the county council refuse to do so; and will he use what powers he may have to protect the public from this danger at this spot?

Mr. BURNS

Representations have been made to me with respect to accidents caused by motor cars at the place referred to, and I understand that similar representations have been made to the Middlesex County Council with a view to the imposition of a speed limit. I have already had correspondence with the county council on the subject, and I will bring the matter again to their notice.
