HC Deb 10 October 1912 vol 42 c543W
Mr. C. BATHURST

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether, under the Small Holdings Act, 1908, county councils are at liberty to make remissions of rent or otherwise render financial assistance to statutory small holders whose crops have been destroyed or rendered valueless by the rains and floods of July and August last, without risk of being surcharged by the Government auditor; and whether, failing such powers, the Board proposes, out of the Small Holdings Account or otherwise, to afford the required relief?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave yesterday to questions on this subject.
