HC Deb 11 November 1912 vol 43 cc1758-60W
Mr. RUPERT GWYNNE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the figures specified on 6th November as the maximum sums on deposit and loan to certain borrowers from the cash balances of the Government of India during the past year also represent the total sums advanced during the year to each firm, respectively?

Mr. H. BAKER

The figures specified on 6th November represent, in accordance with the terms of the hon. Member's question of that date, the maximum sum held on any one date in the preceding twelve months from the cash balances by any bank or approved borrower who on 6th November was holding any sum forming part of the £8,950,000 mentioned in the question. They do not represent the total of the successive loans granted to and repaid by the various firms during the year.

Mr. RUPERT GWYNNE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India, if he will give the names of the banks and approved borrowers of the cash balances of India, with the maximum sums on deposit, with or lent to each, respectively, and the total sums on deposit or lent to each, respectively, during the years 1908, 1909, 1910, and 1911?

Mr. H. BAKER

The statement asked for in the first part of the question is attached. The latter part of the question necessitates the classification in a particular form of about 3,000 transactions in
