BAKERThe purchases by the Secretary of State for India of silver for the Government of India have, prior to the present year, been made for the most part through the firms of Mocatta and Goldsmid and Sharps and Wilkins. Purchases have also been made, to a much smaller extent, from the Chartered Bank of India, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, and the London City and Midland Bank.
