HC Deb 21 May 1912 vol 38 c1875W
Mr. AUBREY HERBERT

asked the Prime Minister what security of tenure there will be, in the event of the Government of Ireland Bill becoming an Act, for professors and other persons appointed by the Statutory Commissioners acting under powers conferred upon them by the Irish Universities' Act of 1908?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Government of Ireland Bill does not alter the tenure of the professors.

Mr. AUBREY HERBERT

asked the Prime Minister whether he will now say what the status and powers of the Statutory Commissioners, acting tinder the powers conferred upon them by the Irish Universities Act, 1908, will be; and if he can see his way to safeguard the powers of the above Commissioners by excluding them from the operation of the Government of Ireland Bill?

Mr. BIRRELL

The powers of the Commissioners under the Irish Universities Act have already determined and the Commissions as such have ceased to exist.
