§ Mr. O'SHAUGHNESSYasked the Chief Secretary whether the county inspector held an inquiry into charges and countercharges made by the district inspector, Royal Irish Constabulary, and the sergeant and constables in Newcastle West, county Limerick, against each other; if so, will he say what was the nature of those charges; whether any private individuals were involved in them; will the report of the county inspector be made public; and why it was that a public inquiry was not held?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe county inspector of Limerick held a disciplinary inquiry into the matter in question, but has not yet completed his investigation. His report will necessarily be treated as confidential, but the inspector-general's decision will be communicated to all concerned. No private individuals are concerned in the charges.
