Mr. FRED HALL (Dulwich)asked the Under-Secretary of State for War what expenditure has been incurred from the 21st December, 1906, to the present time through requisitioning troops for the maintenance of order in connection with industrial disputes and, similarly, the expenditure during the five years prior to the date named; and whether, seeing that the necessity for such military provision has largely arisen through the trade unions' policy known as peaceful picketing, he will consider the advisability of introducing legislation to impose the cost so incurred upon the funds of the trade union societies responsible for such picketing?
§ Colonel SEELYIn reply to the first part of the question, as I have explained to the House in reply to previous questions, there are no complete figures available. The reply to the second part of the question is in the negative.
