HC Deb 11 March 1912 vol 35 cc920-1W
Mr. DELANY

asked upon what grounds the claim of Robert Mitchell to the evicted farm of Castlefleming, Stubber estate, Queen's County, representative of E. S. Mitchell, who was evicted therefrom in May, 1891, has been rejected; whether it is proposed to place the tenancy of this farm in the hands of a grocer's assistant from county Kerry; and will the Estates Commissioners reconsider their decision in this case?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners received an application from E. S. Mitchell, since deceased, for reinstatement in a holding formerly occupied by him at Castlefleming on the Hamilton Stubber Estate, Queen's County, and, after inquiry and consideration, decided to take no action in the matter. Robert Mitchell claims as representative of E. S. Mitchell, but the Commissioners see no reason to alter their decision in the matter. The portion of the lands of Castlefleming acquired by the Commissioners has been divided between a small holder on the estate and an evicted tenant who resides in Roscrea, in the vicinity of the estate.

Mr. O'SHAUGHNESSY

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners have received an application for portion of untenanted lands in the county of Limerick from Joseph and John Hayes, of Ballycasey, Kildimo, county Limerick; and, if so, whether, as these applicants are the sons of an evicted tenant, the Estates Commissioners will give their application their favourable consideration?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners cannot from the particulars given trace the receipt of any application from Joseph and John Hayes.
