asked the Under-Secretary of State for War the number of men who applied for enlistmnet at the recruiting stations in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, York, Liverpool, Burnley, Bolton, Glasgow, Dundee, and Edinburgh for the year ending December, 1911; the number rejected in consequence of being affected by disease or ailments; the number of rejections through inferior physique; and the total number of inspections at the recruiting stations throughout the United Kingdom for the year ending December, 1911, and what was the percentage of rejections for physical reasons?

The available figures for the recruiting year ending 30th September, 1911 are as follows. The statistics of rejections by the recruiting officers do not differentiate between diseases and ailments, and therefore only the rejections by the medical officers can be shown in detail:—
