HC Deb 21 June 1912 vol 39 cc2080-1W
Mr. YERBURGH

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he will state the amount of our total imports of wheat that came by way of the Mediterranean in each of the years from 1906 to 1911, inclusive?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am unable to state definitely what proportion of the wheat imported to this country has come by way of the Mediterranean, but I shall be happy to circulate with the Votes a statement showing the shipments, during the years 1906–10, of wheat grain which, owing to the situation of the exporting countries, may fairly be assumed to have come by the Mediterranean, other shipments which, to a large extent, probably come by the same route, and the total imports of wheat grain into this country. I am not yet in a position to give similar figures for the year 1911.
