§ Mr. KEIR HARDIEasked the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been drawn to the decision of the Law Courts in the case of the King versus Probert, in which it was held that, where an owner of a house of a rateable value of£10 and under was also the occupier, an urban district council had no power to allow him an abatement or reduction of the amount of the general district rate such as would be the case if the occupier had been a person other than the owner; and whether it is proposed to rectify this inequality by amending the 211th Section of the Public Health Act of 1875 by enacting that owner-occupiers shall be placed on the same footing in this respect as owners who are not occupiers?
§ Mr. BURNSI am aware of the decision in the case referred to. I could not undertake to introduce legislation of the kind' suggested.
