asked what is the ratio of general officers to rank and file in the forces now stationed in the United Kingdom, India, and Mediterranean?

Mr. TENNANT

The ratio of general officers to non-commissioned officers and men is approximately as follows:—

United Kingdom 1 in 5,000
India 1 in 4,000
Mediterranean 1 in 3,000

Mr. NEWMAN

asked the ratio of general officers to rank and file in the German Army as compared to the British Army; and whether such ratio has been altered in our Army in recent years?

Mr. TENNANT

The ratio of general officers to non-commissioned officers and men is approximately as follows: German Army, 1 to 1,532; British Army, 1 to 2,457. The ratio in the British Army has not been altered to any appreciable extent in recent years.
