HC Deb 17 June 1912 vol 39 c1443W
Mr. CHANCELLOR

asked whether it is necessary for insured persons to choose their approved society before 15th July?

Mr. MASTERMAN

Persons who are now in a position to choose their approved society (and these should include nearly all existing members of societies which have become approved, and many others for whom such societies are suitable) should at once join their society for the purposes of the Act, and should obtain their cards from that society. Insured persons, however, who would prefer to wait and choose societies specially suitable to their conditions will have three months after the Act comes into operation,i.e. till October before they become deposit contributors. They can get Insurance cards from the Post Office, which will be exactly the same as those given out by approved societies, and which when stamped will be accepted as valid by the societies they join.
