HC Deb 12 June 1912 vol 39 cc999-1000W
Mr. TOUCHE

asked, the Secretary to the Treasury what is the total number of applications made in response to official invitations for posts under the National Insurance Act from members of the Customs indoor, Customs outdoor, Excise indoor, and Excise outdoor departments, respectively; and the total number of appointments made in each case to date?

Mr. MASTERMAN

In addition to the earlier applications made by officials of the Customs and Excise Department, further applications are now being received in response to the recent announcements as to outdoor staff appointments. It is not possible to give precise figures as to the number of applications received. Up to the present seven transfers have been made, and others are in course of arrangement. Applications from officials of the Excise and Customs Department will be given equal consideration with those from other Government Departments.
