§ Dr. MACNAMARAThe Home Dockyards were recently informed that there were two vacancies for Inspectors of Shipwrights at Malta, and asked to forward the names of candidates for these posts, but it was eventually decided to leave one of them unfilled. The other vacancy was filled by the appointment of a candidate from Portsmouth who was lower on the examination list than another candidate from that yard. There was a difference of only four marks between the two candidates, and as the candidate lower on the examination list was the more strongly recommended he was given the appointment.
