§ Mr. NEWMANasked the Under-Secretary for India whether he is aware of the discontent caused in the provincial service of the survey of India owing to the fact that no measure of relief has been granted in respect of the memorials submitted to the Government of India in 1909; whether any Report in respect of these memorials has been submitted to and considered by the Government of India; and whether he will lay upon the Table any dispatch dealing with these memorials, together with the Report of the Departmental Committee of Inquiry, 1910, and the dispatch of August, 1908, dealing with the reorganisation of the Survey Department?
§ Mr. HAROLD BAKERSanction has recently been given to proposals of the Government of India made with a view to relieving the grievances of the memorialists. The relief scheme will shortly be published in India, and in the circumstances the Secretary of State does not consider that any useful purpose would be served by laying the correspondence before the House.
