HC Deb 04 December 1912 vol 44 c2304W
Mr. FELL

asked the President of the Local Government Board if the £1 6s. 11d., the cost per man per week at the Hollesley Bay Farm Colony, includes the sum remitted to the wife and family of the man employed on the farm during his absence from home; and if the sum is the actual cost of food and lodging, or if it includes any sum for instruction in farming?

Mr. BURNS

The sum referred to, which the Central (Unemployed) Body estimate to be the cost per man per week at the Hollesley Bay Farm Colony is not the actual cost of food and lodging. It includes remittances to wives and families and also sums paid to the farm manager and others whose duties include the giving of instruction in farming.
