§ Mr. BIRRELLThe teacher at Askill national school left on 30th June, 1910, and in view of the low average attendance of pupils it became necessary under the Rules of the Commissioners of National Education to consider the question of a rearrangement of the schools in the locality. It was found that none of the twenty-nine pupils on the rolls of the school would have more than two miles to walk to another school under similar management, and that, therefore, Askill school was not needed. The Commissioners accordingly withdrew their grants from the school from the 31st December, 1910, and they cannot see their way to reconsider their decision.
