HC Deb 21 February 1911 vol 21 cc1879-80W
Mr. STEEL - MAITLAND

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the recent increase in the maximum rates of pay from 62s. to 65s. in the case of telegraphists in the London Central Office, and of the increase up to 56s. in the case of telegraphists in Class lb centres, he will consider the grant of an increase proportionate to the foregoing in Class la centres where the maximum rates have not been changed?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

Both the 65s. maximum for the Central Telegraph; Office and the 56s. maximum for Provincial Class IA and Class IB Offices were recommended for the Select Committee of 1906–7, and I should not feel justified in departing from those recommendations.
