HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 cc1416-7W
Sir REGINALD POLE-CAREW

asked the Secretary for War whether, under the provisions of Army Orders for February in the Royal Warrant dealing with the pay of staffs of the Territorial Force, those adjutants appointed prior to 12th June, 1910, receive 2s. 6d. a day less than those appointed after that date; and, if so, whether he can see his way to rectify the difference between the two rates?

Mr. HALDANE

This question has been fully considered. The grant of the higher rate mentioned, which took effect from the 12th July, and not the 12th June, as stated in the question, was adopted to stimulate greater competition for the position of adjutant in the Territorial Force, and there is therefore no reason to make it applicable to those officers appointed under the old conditions.
