HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 c1424W
Lord CHARLES BERESFORD

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has completed his inquiries into the case of the meal hours of telegraph messengers; and whether he will inform the House as to the result?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I have ascertained that thirty minutes is the usual period allowed to boy messengers employed on continuous duties. At offices where only twenty minutes are granted the boys are allowed time in which to prepare their food before the commencement of the relief. From the inquiries which have been made I am satisfied that in the arrangements made at each office full consideration is given to the comfort of the boys.
