HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 cc1413-4W
Lord CHARLES BERESFORD

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that there is a shortage in our coal reserves; and whether, in the event of strained relations of war being declared, it would be necessary to import steam coal from America for the use of the Navy?

Mr. McKENNA

It is not considered to be in the interests of the public service to discuss the question of the Navy fuel reserves, but the Admiralty is satisfied that an adequate reserve is maintained. The reply to the second part of the question is in the negative.
