HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 c1417W
Mr. CHIOZZA MONEY

asked the Secretary for War if tenders have been invited by the War Office for 50,000 pairs of canvas shoes; and, if so, whether he will see that, with due regard to the needs of the Service, the contracts, when placed, shall call for the work to be done at such time and season as to regularise employment in the trade?

Mr. HALDANE

This order, which is probably only a portion of the year's requirements, is to meet the immediate wants of the Service, and early delivery is therefore essential. The consideration mentioned will be most carefully borne in mind, and every effort will be made to give effect to it.
