HC Deb 13 February 1911 vol 21 cc834-5W
Mr. DOUGLAS HALL

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty, whether his attention has been called to the fact that Germany at the present moment has nearly twenty 36-knot torpedo-destroyers completed or ordered; and, seeing that this country does not possess one vessel of this type, but continues to build 27-knot destroyers, whether he will consider the advisability of discontinuing orders for destroyers of this low maximum speed?

Mr. McKENNA

I have no information supporting the statement contained in the first part of the hon. Member's question; but before any vessel is ordered for His Majesty's service the question of design is very fully considered.
