HC Deb 13 February 1911 vol 21 c824W
Mr. KELLY

asked on what grounds James Browne, of Meenticat, Drumkeen, Stranorlar, county Donegal, was refused an old age pension; was he informed of the grounds on which his application was refused; and, if so, by whom, and on what date?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Local Government Board upheld the Pension Officer's appeal on the ground that Browne's means, as calculated under the Act, exceeded the statutory limit. The case came before the Board over fifteen months ago, and the documents are not now in their possession, so it is difficult to state positively whether the Board notified Browne of the grounds on which the appeal was based. It is the present practice of the Board to do so in all cases.
