HC Deb 15 December 1911 vol 32 c2824W
Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that sub-postmasters in the Edinburgh district have obtained relief from the duty of obliterating stamps on parcels from the 18th to the 30th December; whether similar relief has been refused the sub-postmasters at Dundee and at Sheffield; and whether, in view of the pressure at sub-offices during this period, and the fact that the duty referred to has been imposed upon sub-postmasters without any additional remuneration, similar relief can be granted to sub-postmasters generally?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

Cases in which sub-postmasters apply for relief from the work of obliterating stamps on parcels during the Christmas season are considered on their merits and relief is given where this can be done without unduly increasing the pressure of work at other offices.
