Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the carpenters employed in the engineer's yard at Curragh Camp are not receiving the standard rate of wage paid in the district; and whether he will give instructions that they must be paid the rate of wage current in the district?

No representation has been made to the War Office on this matter, but inquiry shall be made.

Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he is aware that Mr. Llewellyn, the contractor for repairs at the barracks, Curragh Camp, is not paying the joiners employed by him the rate of wage current in the district, and that when he was waited upon by the representative of the workmen he refused to observe the conditions of the Fair Wage Resolution; and whether, under these circumstances, he will give instructions that the conditions must be complied with, or that otherwise his name be removed from the list of Government contractors?
