HC Deb 24 April 1911 vol 24 c1560W
Mr. PHILIP FOSTER

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention had been called to the burden upon agricultural ratepayers caused by the rate for education; and would he say whether there was any prospect of legislation in the immediate future to give relief by an increased grant from the Exchequer?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

No special burden is, so far as I am aware, incurred by agricultural as distinct from other ratepayers. The hon. Member is no doubt aware that a Committee has been appointed to discuss the relations between Imperial and local taxation.
