HC Deb 24 April 1911 vol 24 cc1549-50W
Mr. GODFREY COLLINS

asked the Secretary to the Treasury if he can say when the Hobhouse Committee of Inquiry into the conditions of service in the Customs and Excise Department will be published; is he aware of the uncertainty that at present exists in His Majesty's Customs that the hours of work may be altered and increased; and, if the hours of work are increased or altered, will he consider favourably giving compensation to the Custom House officers concerned?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I hope to be able to fix a date for the presentation of the Report of this Committee very shortly. It would be quite contrary to precedent to make any announcement on the possible contents of that Report previously to its presentation.
